Click with Nintendo Switch

NintendoSwitch_Cover

Man, I really like a handheld console. The last handheld console I ever owned was the first Playstation Portable (PSP) and able to play a lot of illegal games. Sadly I decided to sell off because I need money badly and stick with PlayStation 2 games instead until no longer working. After that, I haven’t got any plan on buying new console system to play ever since. There is no space for any big TV LCD because my room is getting smaller with toys and LEGO around. The released of Nintendo Switch hardware really change and shock how well it responded to the gaming industry. Now I got it, what’s next?

The Games

First thing, of course, comes to mind there aren’t many great games right now. Both digital download and physical games (stupid tax in Brunei) are kind of expensive. Even I was in Singapore, there weren’t much luck finding discount on any shops discounting The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It seems like I had to wait for sales and check the exchange rate to decide further from the eshop. Nintendo also continue to push the ported existing games into the market. I personally don’t see the point investing when you can get way cheaper existing games discount that already available in Steam.

The reason I brought Nintendo Switch because I wanted to play an old school RPG and the strategy games cannot be found on PC. Octopath Traveler is one of them, played the Prologue Demo and seriously got hooked until the 3 hours limit ended! I am now stuck with which version to go for. Should I get digital or aim for the physical ‘Wayfarer’s Edition’?

Pre-order haven’t open to public yet and the price is currently unknown in PA which we know they will mark up, thus giving more time to consider because the stuffs doesn’t include any art book, Vinyl Statue or any DLC downloadable contents. The site only provide details on the market price of US$99.00 and includes: Game cartridge, Octopath Traveler: Sound Selections CD, cloth double-sided world map, replica coin of the in-game currency, 8-page pop-up book featuring characters and origins. There weren’t much information if the Wayfarer’s Edition give any special in-game items can be use in the game. Since we continue get left in the dark about this, I decided to place my early pre-order for Valkyria Chronicles 4 - “Memoirs from Battle” premium edition open market price of US$99.99.

I read a lot of positive review about Valkyria Chronicles game 1-3 series and recommend the upcoming Valkyria Chronicles 4 - “Memoirs from Battle” to go for since it includes: 100-Page Artbook, The "HAFEN" Tank Vinyl Statue and two Add-on Side Missions (While supplies last.). The DLC in eShop are abit expensive so this is a good opportunity to take advantage on this collector deal. Although PA cost US$20.00 more than the market price, I manage to deduct the express shipping fee and US$10.00 using the unused free PA credit that I kept qutie a number of years.

Speaking about the DLC, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is getting new expansion pack called Torna The Golden Country and receive quite a numbers of update. The review also very positive, so I am interested jumping into this RPG game but there are no discount in Nintendo eShop even the bundle price didn’t get any single special discount. I am not going bother and pass on this one until Black Friday Sales.

Pokemon Go Craze!

Everyone says it’s a waste of time and stupid if you look at it. I was one of them but once I started playing after see the game landed in Apple app store, the crazy starts walking around my office and visit the public parks to catch the damn Pokemon monster as long it shows up in my GPS radar. For now I mostly go to Billionth Barrel Monument in Seria because currently one of the good places with three PokeStops there. Not to mention, my one stop jogging location after work.
Man, ‘Pokemon Go!’ really forces everyone out from home. You get to see tons of different people and even long time friends hardly see these days including some elderly and seniors joined the party. No one gives any damn laughs at anyone. Everyone just do their things, busy catching monsters walking around and battling at the gym on their phones.
Majority still skeptic about ‘Pokemon Go!’ game. Of course I too have issue especially players with no sense of safety while driving in highway and at towns. I encounter few sudden braking their car and then pull over just to catch the damn monsters. Worst, forget or without signaling light. Parents as well to worry their young children’s wander (some alone) in dangerous places and late nights catching monsters outside.
I do have to admit these games actually help players to be more active outside, sometimes making new friends and at the same time making you exercising just by walking, all for the sake of hatching the eggs (me, when jogging). But we just need to aware the surrounding and safety. Well, time for hunting adventure!

Planet Annihilation Review

First of all, I am Kickstarter who backed Planet Annihilation. I never participate in the Alpha and Beta because I trust the Uber guys able to make the game awesome. After the announcement of official released last week, I hit the Steam and update the game into full version. Run the game and not awesome. Yes, it didn’t live up my expectation. This is why I decided to post negative review and advice not to buy until the Uber issue more fixes and updates hopefully. I personally feel the game not in ‘complete’ stage yet and somewhat missing along the ways during the developments.

Here are the lists down of my problem encounter in the game:

  1. When I wanted to jump and conquer new planets further. The drop down info bar blocks the jump button. It was a bit frustrated finding a work around. Either I jump backward allow the screen auto zoom out or use the zoom in and out to reach the button. I do not know if this is a bug or design this way. I hope the guys can do some adjustment to allow moving more freely in the maps.
  2. The AI commanders sometimes do nothing on some planets after successfully building energy plant. I was able to win within 6-7 min.
  3. So far one times experience stuck in the loading screen for 10 min. I had to force to end the process to restart the game.
  4. Graphic glitches on my AMD Radeon 5770, turning off the HDR and Shadow to medium does help a bit. *I just learn about the latest official drivers release last week. I’m going to test it due to positive feedback from testers
  5. Unable to cancel units in Orbital factory
  6. Sometimes the unit doesn’t patrol.

My disappointment:

  1. The galactic wars could have done better in the single player mode. There are so much missing features (upgrades, super weapons etc) and game play style I am expecting to be different in the RTS world. Too bad, it turns out just a simple game blowing out the planets.
  2. I do not understand why all units and buildings have to be same for all fractions. I believe they can do better than this. Yes, I know game balancing is important. Perhaps the Uber thinking the modders will do the rest or just save up for DLC?
  3. I thought every each of the commanders would either come with special weapons or abilities that could reflect in the battle experience. Sadly, they only just for deco. I wish such ideas would happen. Maybe, again, game balancing issue or just let the modders do the magic work instead.
  4. You can’t save game in single campaign. Yes, you can’t. Your commander died, you restart the entire game. Dammit!

Final Thought:

Uber does indeed create different RTS experience. However, the Galactic War mode fails me and the game play style doesn’t suit as well which instead got me bored slowly because of the limited access to the tech. Secondly, like I mention above. All units and building are the same. There’s no way to customize units, no tech upgrade and even the commanders don’t their own special abilities and weapons, just a deco in the game. How can you not get bored playing with it?

The new concept of game play and implementations are somewhat great. It just turns out fail products and may have to rely on the modders to fix it. I may not have the right to complains since I back Uber in the Kickstarter, but seeing the end result does indeed disappointed. Sorry to say PA just can’t out beat both Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander despite the two are old RTS games. If the guys could learn what missing on the previous game, PA could have come out differently. I know you can build orbital station and blow up planets. It just didn’t turn out what I expect to be in the end. I could be wrong and they may have something up in their sleeves on the next update. As for now, finger cross.

Steam Summer Hunt kept Me Busy!

Well, what can I say about disappearance on blogging? Damn, the Steam summer sales really the coolest place to hunt down great discount games. During the sales, I was able to hunt down few great games like all Company of Heroes, Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai, Hitman Absolution, Deadlight, Touchlight 2 and The Last Renment.

These games already could already keep me company for months if I planned to play non-stop. However, what I don't like about Steam sometimes were great games can't be purchase in certain countries. It sucks, really. I don't understand the reason behind this and let's take X-COM Enemy Unkown for example. You will never be able to find in Steam if you are living in Brunei. Weirdly, The Bureau: X-COM Declassified is available (pre) purchase but not X-COM: Enemy Unknown.

I'm not sad and thinking giving up going for the physical purchase. Luckily, I got Malaysian friends using Steam so the easier way is asked them to purchase and send me as gift! Problem solved! I really got to say, I am really addicted to the turn based game and I am looking forward getting The Bureau: X-COM Declassified and Final Fantasy VII. Only when there are sales because money is really tight these days. LOL!

Yes support them by visiting kickstarter!

Woot! This Planet Annihilation project really greatly impress a lot of us and hitting over US$1,161,560 today (and counting)! Now everyone and Uber Entertainment Inc are keep their eyes on the US$1,300,000 goal which I decided to jump aboard supporting this project by giving pledge US$100.00 and hopefully seeing more great features coming to this new RTS game!

If you are previous owner of Total Annihilation and you love the damn games, you must support this project because we are going to have fun throwing asteroids and blowing up planets next year!

The MMORPG Curse

Sorry for the absence not posting anything. Once I started playing online MMORPG games, there is no stopping on the time thinking writing a single blog post. Only today I am able to because my RF Online character stuck at level 50 which require doing unlocking quest and help from high level players. This past few days was no luck at all which also at the same time finding the quest ridiculous hard. So I decided to switch back Silkroad Online.

After playing for few hours, I find the graphic so suck and wasn’t impressed with updated system anymore. Again, I decided to looked for another alternative recent online game might interest me.R2 (Reign of Revolution) Online was the latest released in public and currently ongoing beta test. I was lucky enough to grab the free beta key from MMOBomb site. No worry, they still have over 1000 keys left up for grab. You just simply need to register a free account over there and follow the instruction how to activate the keys. I will start playing once I download the 2.60GB client file tomorrow.

Back on Rising Force MMO

I never expecting going back playing online game again. If it wasn’t because the next upcoming Starcraft II expansion rumors to release next year, I won’t be that boring watching anime and TV dramas. Another reason also my car loan is going to start next month on the 1st week so this is going to look bad for me. All financial shit needed to adjust and finding best ways to reduce my spending.

Actually the first planning is heading back to Silkroad online. Somehow, my character was messed up on the skills at 40 something as far I can remember back to 4-5 years now. It really suck have to play from the start if creating new character since leveling never easy on Silkroad game, not to mention killing more than 500+ monster just to get 50 quest items which is stupid and time consuming while the level limit already push to over 100. There are definitely a plenty of changes and update done to the game after all these years but the good thing were, lots of Brunei playing there. Still can’t confirm if they already move on with their life.

Nonetheless, I did made a right choice choosing RF Online game. I never expect my account is still also available for three years and allows transferring my character to any server. Met a lot of great players there and continue help me with the leveling. The only problem with the game so far are farming money, stupid quests and harder leveling after you reach 40. Everything needed help from higher level players and assist you on group quests. Luckily everything works well for me and start on right time.

Don’t think that I am going to get addicted to online game. I play because I got nothing to do at night, always sleep early and what’s the point wasting money paying the eSpeed service. I only go out meeting friends once or twice a week so I need to find something to kill the times.

Facebook Game: Car Town

I never thought of starting playing Facebook game again. There are tons of great games out there, but I feel like most of it is very time consuming and boring in the end. I decided to try out the recent Car Town game after my friends introduced to me and currently hitting to level 9. It’s not really a bad game to be honest, I myself do enjoying it. The most interesting part of the game itself allows you to designing your own car graphic and I just finished working on one which is Raka Lee Itasha version. I didn’t expect it turn out to be great looking car so I probably going to make more sooner once I got rich in the game. Hehehe…. For the mean time I decided to sent this to car show and see how many vote I might able to get.

CarTown_RakaLee_Itasha

Well, as for the garage workshop. I am slowly building it bigger soon because due to the unfriendly earning money system. That’s the bad part of the game as timing is important, every car servicing you started requires being on time receiving the payment, all else the customers would run away. I first thought it is automatically, but I was wrong about it and that’s annoying when you have to monitor the game from time to time.

Starcraft II - Wing of Liberty Collector Edition

Finally my Wing of Liberty collector edition arrived on my door step today! It was truly a long awaited RTS title of my life after the first Starcraft and the expansion Brood War released ten years ago when my friend introduced it. I remember first playing online non-stop during my student time for years. Thank to this game, study never was my priority.

I won’t be explaining or going to review this game. You can read on the official gaming website for more information and rating because they gives you better answer. To me, just go for it! Anyway, you might know what special stuffs going too packed with the collector edition. Let me bring you a closer look again for your pleasure!

Starcraft II: Wing Of Liberty Collector Edition (North America Version):

  • Starcraft II: Wing Of Liberty PC DVD game
  • Jim Raynor “Dog Tag” 2GB USB Drive (contains Starcraft and Brood War expansion set)
  • Starcraft II: Behind the Scenes DVD
  • Starcraft II: Collector Edition Soundtrack
  • The Art of Starcraft II: Wing Of Liberty
  • Starcraft Comic Issue #0
  • Exclusive In-Game WOW Pet (Baby Thor)
  • 2x Guest Game Pass card for Starcraft II: WOL & WOW

The entire box weight at least 2.7kg when it shipped out by UPS courier. Well, of course the art book itself is quite heavy, not to mention even the USB dog tag is made out of steel I presume. What a great addition to the collection, I love it! Overall, the packing box design was quite nice without needing to remove any seal damaging the looks.

While letting the PC doing all the installing work and updating the game, I decided spend my time checking out the art works book. Total 176 pages with full colors printed. This would probably cost US$29.90 or more if buying separately. Two pages teaser on the arts done by the Blizzard staffs.

As for the comic, I already had done reading in the toilet. That was simply just the first part introducing the War Pigs mercenary squad story. It seems like I have to get the rest of the issue to learn more about them. Hmm….

The top one is obvious a sound track CD, so the left is the installer DVD 9 and the right is the behind the scenes DVD. I haven’t watch yet but planning to save it for later when I have nothing to do. Quite interestingly after finding out that you don’t have to worried about losing or damage installer DVD. You can simply download the whole game online again through your Battle.Net account. Just in case someone stole it, house burn down or whatsoever happen in natural disaster.

Jim Raynor “Dog Tag” 2GB USB Drive that contains the first Starcraft and Brood War expansion set. Luckily I didn’t went to buy it.

There is a slide button on the back of the dog tag to push out the USB connector.

Yup, it lights up after you plug into the USB port. There are two led lights coming from the side and the top. Both come with blue and orange colors favors. Looks pretty cool I have to say. But the only down side is the dog tag simply too bulky and occupy a lot of the space (seen as picture above). Nonetheless, these pen drives reads and write really fast! Installing Starcraft game only takes less than two minutes with the total file size 1.23GB in window 7. I am happy this is not just an ordinary cheap pen drive even if the size is bulky.

New RTS Games for this March 2010

This upcoming three new popular RTS game will be releasing next month and I can’t wait to get them. I already did a pre-order for one of them, the Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight from Play-Asia.com last week. The remaining two for Supreme Commander 2 and W40K: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising. Both of them will be purchase directly from my Steam account when it available for Asia. Not too much worry over the downloading the whole game problem since I already got a free eSpeed upgrade recently last week.

My original plan was buying all three from Play-Asia.com. But I decided to go for one since I already figure out next month it’s going to be tough on the spending so I have to try to paying less extra taxes for DVD media in the custom and avoid over spending as much as possible. If it wasn’t the Play-Asia.com staffs forget my fucking Visa gift last month, there won’t be any order at all and rather wait for EA release it on Steam instead.

Lastly, I need a nice value gaming card for my PC. I did miss my last year upgrade because I have a habits waiting for the latest and improve technology. I have the patient and finally the wait is over, either going for budget ATI 5770 or the upcoming ATI 5830. If I could remember, it might be releasing next month so hopefully my upgrade will be around April. Yummy~!

Halo 3 ODST Live Action Trailer

I wanted to post this two days ago. But forget it when I was busy preparing my stuffs before transferring to the new company. Anyway, enjoy this trailer, even you are not a gamers or Halo fan. Every live action Halo  today is the best commercial you simply going to amaze with it.

E3 Show down 2009

WOOT! It looks like my effort of spending on my new PC is not wasted. After looking at E3 this year, I can’t believe some of the popular games are coming to the PC, except Final Fantasy XIII which I wanted to play the most as it only available on PS3 platform. Too bad isn’t it? Not much a problem for me because the most exciting announcement from Hideo Kojima is that the newest title for Metal Gear Solid Rising is going to make it to PC else well! Yeah! No one really expecting such surprise is going to be happen and it’s going to be on my buy list.

The Remedy Entertainment also previews Alan Wake on E3 this year. After watching the game trailer and game play demo in Youtube. I am definitely going to get this game! It’s been a while not getting on any horror games for a long time and not to mention this is going to be a story based. If you wonder Alan Wake might disappoint on us. I believe it won’t because we are talking about Remedy Entertainment here. They make a lot of good games and story, so this is going to turn out great although it has been going for five years (I think) making.

And yes! Supreme Commander 2 is coming next year. HA! I knew it! RTS game is also my favorite taste recipes because I always like to camp in my base and until I prepare with massive advance units. I love doing like that even in Starcraft online back then and come up with different combinations on defenses. Man, I am so excited and can’t wait to get my hand on it.

But first thing first, I have to get a high-end graphic card!

Mafia Wars and Valve Orange Box

What a crazy popular game feature in Facebook. Everyone is playing it and funny enough to catch one of my customers hitting so hard on it at work with current level 198 and already had 500 mafia members. He is really so addicted to the game and not to mention full time on Facebook. I wonder how many of you are really so obsessed with Facebook and its game everyday?

I also played Mafia Wars not long ago and spend only two to three times a day sometimes. Hate to say it, but every time I check I always get rob or attack by anyone. It’s not easy to play, but well, still a good game to keep you company for a while. Sooner or later I won’t be playing because I brought an Orange Box games from Steam for US$9.99! Woot!!! Once finished download, I will be playing Team Fortress 2 and continue Half Life 2 game. Man, I really loves Steam weekend deals.

For the Emperor!

IMG_3034 (640x480)

Weee…FINALLY arrived! Dawn of War II pre-order edition with T-shirt and special in-game Wargear set. I was bored to death without any new games and run out spray paint for Gundam to keep me company. It was indeed a good timing receiving it on yesterday and went back straight to install. I like this game very much especially unlocking some of the stories at each optional mission you finished. I really hope for expansion soon! Anyway, next game target Red Alert 3 Uprising and Starcraft 2.
