The Craze on End of the Year Sales - Books

How much did I blow so far is unbelievable. This time around are more on about getting something useful. Yes, books! I can’t believe myself would ever bother to buy books that I don’t usually like to read. Age probably really changes part of me and of course it’s about keeping up. Three study books from Microsoft Press Store (just arrived from FedEx) and two Richard Dawkins from Book Depository.

If I couldn’t find a way to change my current IT Technician position then you better stay and get some knowledge upgrades. When Microsoft Press Store offer 55% coupon for all the paperback books and eBooks, this is something I can’t overlook. The timing of these offers probably the best so far because both Exam Ref 70-698 Installing and Configuring Windows 10 and Troubleshooting with the Windows Sysinternals Tools (2nd Edition) were published two months ago. Nice~!

The last one took me a while to decide was Windows Server 2012 Inside Out. I previously attended the course (I failed) three years ago and continue hands on deploying to the market today. Continuing support and optimizing the operating system are the most important part of my daily job. Despite the book was more than three years without any further update. I felt it’s best to have around with me. I just had to say wow, total 1381 pages to read.

Now, are you having a hard time looking for certain books and waiting for discount? Look no further, Book Depository might become one of your favorite online bookstores. I am really surprised with the huge selections titles available at their store. The wildest part is able to get free worldwide shipping deal.

Since I already brought three Microsoft books, why not get some controversy books to read? Yup, ‘The God Delusion’ and ‘The Magic of Reality: How We Know What's Really True’ books. Got a great deal from the bookstore and in case you wonder, these two books are highly recommended by tons of people (not just atheist) around the world. Sadly, they are still separately on the way from UK. I do hope one day I might able to get Richard Dawkins to sign the books.

YesAsia.com Manga - August 2012

Finally got my latest order for the manga books last month during Yesasia.com summer sales. Not a lot of course, but I just couldn't hold myself picking up Attack on Titan volume one to five after getting some price slash love. If you never heard of it, I do recommend check it out. Attack on Titan is actually quite popular and won an award as well. What surprise me is the live action movie going to open next year.

As usual, I also grab two Gundam series. For one was Gundam Unicorn Bande Dessinee volume 2 and I am so happy getting MSV The Return of Johnny Ridden volume one too. I have been waited for two years after the manga start on June 2010. there's no way I am going to missed the pre-order!

As for the addition, the new Biohazard: Marhawa Desire volume one manga released last month. I didn't check the details of the story but the drawing looks really good and started this year. Well, I got to wait until I sit in the toilet than I will starts reading.

HLJ Online Order February 2012

Two Hobby magazines, first Robot Damashii ARX-07 and some restock tools purchase from HLJ. Last month was the best exchange rate I ever get a long time. 62 versus 1 do save some money and hope it will continue raise throughout the year.

Hobby Japan April 2012 Issue contains Limited HG 1/144 Grand Slam Sword and custom upgrade kits for Gundam Seed. I didn’t plan to purchase extra because I am now careful with my budget spending limit. If the Chinese version comes with it next month, I will get one more but not three.

As for Dengeki Hobby April 2012, it come with a plastic part separator. Finally my first purchase of Robot Damashii ARX-7 with Lamba Driver version. It sure took long consideration getting one. After playing around with it, definitely worth much more than getting Revoltech version.

The extra order is mostly restock black fine marker and Kotobukiya option kits parts.

huke Illustration BLK w/ Figma BRS Beast & 2035

Never expecting me would collect Figma again. It was a last call hitting pre-order button for Huke Illustration hard cover art book with limited Black Rock Shooter Beast Figma. It sure does cost me a lot getting this. However, as long I am love of art person. Money is not an issue putting the collections in the shelves.

I’m not going to do a review on the limited action figure. But I will show you some more inside the packing including great art book photos later. If you really want to sees the beast in action, head over to Hacchaka for full photo gallery shoot.

The second is the Black Rock Shooter 2035 which they call the game version. Also last minute order since HLJ still has in stock lying around so why not get her together with the art book.

MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE THE EURO FRONT with Limited Figure Book

I am thinking about pre-ordering this limited version of the MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE THE EURO FRONT book with limited EF-2000 Typhoon figure. Somehow I am holding back so bad because of REVOLTECH producing it. If they contain Kotobukiya plastic kit, I definitively put my money down. But it isn’t.

The limited version basically just repainted to white color base on the upcoming EF-2000 Typhoon Wilfried Eichberger release next month! Nothing special, no new stuffs and the weapons remain all the same. Don’t get me wrong, I like MUV-LUV mecha. Revoltech is just so not my taste.

Not sure if you noticing, don’t you think most of the limited version books released are from Revoltech? I guess their brand is slowly failing in the market so probably the publishers are getting cheaper contracts to produce together.

Model Kit World December 2011 with Sinanju Bazooka

I pick up this magazine from ishop2go.com after seeing them put up on the store. The Model Kit World is a Hong Kong toy magazine and been around for quite a while. Full color pages and this volume252 come with HGUC Sinanju bazooka.

In case you wonder, the plastic quality is okay. If you ever owned the HGUC Unicorn twin Gatling gun, it is the same. You can’t really ask for more on this book that only cost less than B$10.00 so it’s a nice addition for collections. I recommended picking one of these magazines if you see selling at any bookstore.

I’m not quite sure if you can find in Brunei today. I remember seeing them selling in Soon Lee KB book section but now no longer available there. Other places can be possible finding at Miri or in Malaysia.

Why We Believe In God(s)

I don’t usually buy books to read other than comics or manga. Without any image or cartoon, I feel bored easily which I usually prefer watching documentary video instead. Since Why We Believe in God (s) book doesn’t contain 1000+ pages, I decided to get one from Richard Dawkins Foundation for US$9.99. Considering US dollar has been so weak for sometimes, why not.

This book is written by J.Anderson Thomson, in case you still don’t know who he is. The video below shows you his face and explanation title of the book.

Mobile Suit Gundam Ecole du Ciel

 

I really missed the old days reading manga (comic) books when I was student. In Brunei, it’s truly hard to find many locals running comic shops business. I’m not sure if the previous manga shop is still around or not. But I guess it might already close by now. Running manga business is not really that good and easy here. Not sure about in the capital, but I am planning to get Mobile Suit Gundam Ecole du Ciel manga from Yesasia.com. I love Gundam especially studying the timeline in Universal Century stories is quite challenging. Ecole du Ciel is one of the story I miss it out and even without knowing about such manga exist in the first place. I failed as a Gundam fan, but it doesn’t mean I am going to give a shit for not getting it, right?

Anyway, I don’t really recommend this manga for new Gundam fresh reader because it will definitely get into trouble understanding what exactly happen in the story if you do not watch the previous anime. This story involve in between the Gundam and Zeta Gundam story so you might find difficulty to understand most of the events took place.
