EACON 2012 – The Lost Light of Cosplay

First of all, let me apologize if I say something wrong that might offend the local organizers and cosplayers in this post. Understand that this is just my personal opinions on the two days experience and find the cosplay group’s performances were somewhat lacking of something.

 

To be honest, I don't pay just to enter the Gunpla competition. But to see something fresh from cosplays competition at EA CON and maybe more exciting activities this year. For some reason, the gaming simply just took over the spotlight in the event almost the whole day. Everything feels like I am attending to a gaming event instead.

 

Let me be frank, I am not the only person in the event felt this arrangement are heading wrong direction. There are previous attendees told me the same thing not feeling enjoyable from what I encounter above. Of course not 100% everyone agree or perhaps the organizers are doing this to respect the MIB code.

 

I never dress as a cosplayer so I’m never knows how they feel. What I do know, it's really tired to wear costumes with accessories or weapons walking around take photos with people just for two whole days. I'm sure the guys are expecting something fun in the event like last year dancing and enjoy more at stage. It just not happening. Nevertheless, glad to know many shows up and enjoy wearing their favorite characters in the event.

 

 

Despite all of this performance lacking preparation and the annoying sound system issue came out of nowhere. I do got to give the cosplayers a big thumb up continue bravely performing and did their best on the stage. Dishonest Trade In Program Continues

I already cover the issue back in 2009 about dishonest local advertising page. Today I'm going to remind the readers to be extra careful and must get more information before trading in any working computers to the local company’s. It appear the company trade in program continue to mislead the customers into thinking either we are actually getting some cash back or lower purchase price for any selected products.

The truth, is not and basically we are giving away our working hardware for free in return for nothing. Yes, nothing! This is even more surprising when the employee themselves dared to admit the above I wrote are all truth. I continue to wonder how can such company get away with that lies? It is because they are popular in the capital that allow them to misleading the customers?

Make no mistake that the Brunei Governments already announced the law against the such act this year. If you have been cheated or any kind of misleading promotions that you purchased from. Send to this address: consumercomplaint@jpke.gov.bn, making sure you provide proof of his/her identity and proof of purchase by producing receipt or any other document and record the conversation using mobile phone if necessary. That way they surely won't get away.

EA CON 2012 – The Opening Day One

Phew~! Finally I can take every few minutes to sit down writing my experience report for EA CON day one and two while continue rushing work OT in the office and spending some time back home at night. Yup, I am still very busy lately rushing work to settle things before new year. Fucking hate it when these things come unexpectedly.

Now, did I enjoying my time in EA CON? Well, it’s good to see we have lots of Cosplayers turning up in the event and seeing more roomy space for booth to set up as well bigger gaming area compared to last year. But not quite feeling much enjoying at all and felt moody surrounding. I will explain later in the next post why. Now...

Kiulap Plaza Hotel

First of all, I am sucked at location. I know where Kiulap is but not the hotel (lol). This is my first time going to Kiulap Plaza Hotel so I didn't know where the exact best location to parked. After realizing heading toward the building, then I saw Hua Ho was just next to it. Yeah, I was an idiot parking near the Kiulap mall and had to walk 7 minutes when there are so many good parking slots at Hua Ho area. Next time, I better check Google map before heading to any other places. I got to say the hotel lift was stupid and annoying.

The Event

Same as last year, I participate again for the Gunpla competition. I register myself, report to the organizers and set up my plastic kit. Unexpectedly, everyone of us who participate received B$5.00 off voucher from Chong Hock Toynation. Not decided yet when to head up again to grab from the shop using the free voucher. But since it wrote valid until 31 March next year. I will just use it slowly.

I'm Back in Photography

YES! I finally decided to purchase and replace my aging PowerShot A710 IS with Canon EOS M! Although the original plan is getting DSLR version, in the end I went for compact and believe not necessary investing on professional camera. I know there are many mixed response on Canon new release mirror less technology. Still, I continue to jump in for it and feeling lesser worry about being too heavy carrying around.

In case you wonder how much I brought, the current selling special promotion price is B$1319.00 at Interhouse Company event in Kuala Belait. I choose the third package version that comes two different lens and mountable flash which I find the best to go for. Yes, it comes with free stuffs. Not exactly very attractive compare to Hari Raya promotion. But free 8GB SD memory card, cleaning kits, camera bag and two years warranty sure quite good.

I already take my camera for a spin and the photo results turn out pretty good for inexperience like me. Even bad photos nowadays can be easily fix using Photoshop or others so nothing to bother being lousy photographer. Anyway, I should invest another extra battery and larger SD memory cards so that I can take more photos.

WTF with December?

Geezzz.. December really suck! For most people, usually this month are quiet and less work while people away for holiday or heading back home for upcoming Christmas. But from last week until now, everything was all about work and rushing.

I have been working non-stop OT lately and feeling tired without enough sleep. I don't know if the management are going to pay or not for ours overtime. If he say we can claim it, I wouldn't mind working for extra hours. However, new task kept coming and changes last minute sometimes, sure starting to pissed me off.

There are someone's else pisses me more is that son of the bitches, yeah the new guy, still can't work independently with simple task and fucking not remembering what he had learned after more than eight months. Oh man, I wish I can fire him off even he was sent from the Government Labors department. This guy is so fuck that he should just applied for office boy. Well, thanks to my manager for not listening my opinion extending his probation further and letting him swallowing free salary every months.
